Women in North - Women in Business Conference: Peace River, AB
CFGP & R, in partnership with Project Lead - Community Futures Peace Country, and partners Alberta Women Entrepreneurs and Alberta Agriculture to host the first annual Women in the North Business Conference on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Misery Mountain Ski Chalet, Peace River.
More than 80 women who are in business or looking to be in business attended. Several new initiatives may develop from this conference. Watch for more in a community near you!

ATTENTION: Northern Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp
Northern Community Futures offices welcomed 50 youth age 13-15 to our Entrepreneurship Camp August 17-23, 2008 at Moose Lake near Bonnyville, AB. The campers were able to take part in all of the usual camp activities along with learning how to start a business.
The campers were grouped into business teams and learned everything from coming up with Business Ideas, to Business Plan Development, Marketing and Customer Service. Once they had developed their plans, they purchased supplies and worked on developing their products which were then sold on the last day - market day. They all did a wonderful job and took away very valuable skills.
